Short answer: YouTube does not publish how much it earns in India, and Alphabet's annual report does not split revenue by country. The closest public number is Google India's gross advertising revenue: ₹34,742 crore in FY25, up 11.3%, from its filings with the Registrar of Companies. That figure covers all Google advertising sold in India — Search and YouTube together — and most of it is passed on to Google Asia Pacific. On the other side of the ledger, YouTube says it paid more than ₹21,000 crore to Indian creators, artists and media companies over the three years to May 2025.

So you can say how much advertising Google sells in India, and how much YouTube says it pays out. You cannot say from public data how much of either is YouTube.

Why Google India's revenue looks small — and large

Google India works as a reseller. It sells advertising to Indian businesses, records the full amount as gross advertising revenue (₹34,742 crore), and then pays most of it — ₹32,047.6 crore in FY25 — to Google Asia Pacific, which owns the advertising inventory. What Google India keeps as net advertising revenue is ₹2,694.4 crore.

That is why two numbers about the same company can be quoted a world apart. "Google India made ₹5,340 crore" (revenue from operations) and "Google India sold ₹34,742 crore of ads" (gross) are both correct. The second is the better measure of how much Indian advertisers spend with Google.

Neither is a YouTube number. The filing reports Google's advertising business in India as a whole. YouTube ads and Search ads are not separated in the figures reported.

What Alphabet's annual report shows

Alphabet's Form 10-K for 2025 reports:

  • YouTube ads revenue: $40,367 million worldwide in 2025, up from $36,147 million in 2024.
  • Revenue by geography in four regions only: United States (48%), Europe-Middle East-Africa (29%), Asia-Pacific (17%, $67,680 million) and other Americas (6%).

India sits inside Asia-Pacific with Japan, Australia, South Korea and others. The report gives no India figure and no YouTube-by-region figure. Any "YouTube India revenue" number you see online is an estimate, and usually doesn't say how it was made.

What YouTube says it pays out

At the WAVES summit in Mumbai in May 2025, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said YouTube had paid more than ₹21,000 crore to creators, artists and media companies in India over the previous three years, and announced an investment of ₹850 crore (about $100 million) in Indian creators over the next two years. He also said more than 100 million Indian channels uploaded at least one video in the previous year, and that 15,000 had reached one million subscribers.

Spread evenly, ₹21,000 crore over three years is about ₹7,000 crore a year — our arithmetic, not YouTube's. Two things to keep in mind:

  1. The payout goes to more than creators. "Artists and media companies" include music labels and TV networks — the channels that dominate India's most-subscribed list.
  2. It is YouTube's own figure. It is not broken down by year, type of recipient or revenue source (ads, Premium, memberships).

What this means for a creator in India

The money pool is real, but you only see your slice. India's advertisers spend tens of thousands of crore a year with Google, and YouTube says it shares thousands of crore a year with Indian channels. What reaches you depends on your niche, audience and watch time — not on the national total.

Estimate your slice, not the market. The free YouTube income calculator applies India-specific RPM ranges by niche and separates Shorts from long-form. For what Indian YouTubers actually earn per 1,000 views, see how much Indian YouTubers earn; for Premium's share, see how YouTube Premium pays creators in India.

Brand money sits outside these numbers. Sponsorships are paid directly by brands and do not pass through Google's filings at all. For that market, see how big influencer marketing is in India.

How to quote these numbers

  • "Google India's gross ad revenue was ₹34,742 crore in FY25 (RoC filings)" — never "YouTube India earned ₹34,742 crore".
  • "YouTube says it paid over ₹21,000 crore to Indian creators, artists and media companies in three years (May 2025)" — keep "artists and media companies" in.
  • Alphabet's $40.37 billion YouTube ads revenue is worldwide.
