What the top 50 has in common
Our split of the full Social Blade top 50:
| Type | Channels |
|---|---|
| Music labels, film studios and devotional media | 20 |
| TV entertainment and news networks | 11 |
| Kids' content brands | 5 |
| Individual creators and creator teams | 14 |
Three patterns stand out:
1. Music and film catalogues dominate. T-Series alone has four channels in the top 50 (T-Series, Bhakti Sagar, Bollywood Classics, Apna Punjab), Shemaroo three, and Goldmines two. These channels upload what already exists — songs, films, serials — and India's film music has decades of it.
2. Upload volume is not what puts creators there. TV and news channels upload hundreds of thousands of videos: Aaj Tak has 753.52K, Zee TV 222.13K. Most individual creators in the list have between a few hundred and a few thousand. CarryMinati is 38th with 212 videos; Total Gaming is 37th with 604.
3. Gaming and experiment channels are well represented. Three of the 14 individual channels — Techno Gamerz, Total Gaming and MR. INDIAN HACKER — are gaming or experiment channels.
Subscribers are not views
Ranking by subscribers hides big differences in viewing. Colors TV is ninth by subscribers but has only 3.06 billion views — the fewest of any channel in the top 50. Anaya Kandhal, eleventh, has 120.71 billion views. Subscribers measure how many people once clicked Subscribe; views measure how much is actually watched.
For a creator, this is the more useful lesson. A subscriber count says little about how many people see your next video; watch time and views decide that, and they decide what you earn.
How to read these numbers
- Counts are rounded. YouTube shows public subscriber counts abbreviated to three significant figures, so "315M" can be anywhere from 315 to just under 316 million. Social Blade shows the same rounded figure.
- "India" is the channel's own setting. Social Blade's country list uses the country a channel declares. A channel based in India that has not set its country, or has set another, will not appear.
- One company, many channels. T-Series, Shemaroo and Goldmines run several channels each. A list of companies by total subscribers would look even more concentrated.
What this means for a creator in India
You are not competing with T-Series. The top of the list is media catalogues. Individual creators reach the top 50 with a few hundred to a few thousand videos and a clear format, not with volume.
Pick a format you can repeat. Gaming, comedy, experiments, vlogs and spiritual teaching are all represented among individuals. What they share is a repeatable format and a voice people come back for. For choosing your language, see which Indian language to start a YouTube channel in.
Watch the views, not the subscribers. Estimate what your views are worth by niche with the free YouTube income calculator. For the wider picture, see how many content creators India has and YouTube India's creator economy in numbers.
Where JustShoot fits
The individual creators in this list are known for a voice, not a catalogue. JustShoot runs the pre-production pipeline — research and fact-check, script, storyboard, thumbnail brief, SEO package and shorts — in your channel's own voice, in 11 languages.
