Which AI Writing Tools Actually Publish an Indian-Language List (2026)
Seven AI writing tools, checked on 3 October 2026: which name their Indian languages, which only give a count, and which say 'any language' and name none.
Which AI Writing Tools Actually Publish an Indian-Language List (2026)
By Ashok Sachdev, Founder of JustShoot · Published 3 October 2026 · Every vendor page read 3 October 2026
Short answer: Of seven AI writing tools we checked, Google's Gemini names the most Indian languages (12), and ChatGPT names 10. Claude names only Hindi and Bengali, but is the only one that publishes a quality figure for them. Jasper and Rytr name Hindi and no other Indian language. Copy.ai says "any language" and names none.
"Supports 100+ languages" is the most repeated claim in this category, and the least checked. This page does the boring check: we opened each vendor's own pages and wrote down what it actually names. This is a page about disclosure, not quality. We did not test any tool's Hindi or Tamil output, and nothing here scores or ranks one tool above another.
If your question is the different one — can AI write a good script in a regional language, rather than translate one — we covered that in can AI write YouTube scripts in regional Indian languages.
The distinction that hides most "100+ languages" claims
Before the table, one distinction that changes how you read every language claim:
- Interface language is the language of the buttons and menus.
- Output language is the language the tool will write in.
- Translation language is a language a separate translation feature will convert into.
These are different lists, and vendors often publish only one of them. A tool can have a Hindi menu and write weak Hindi, or an English-only menu and write good Hindi. Several rows below publish a list for one of these and say nothing about the others. Where that happens, we say which list it is.
What each vendor publishes
ChatGPT (OpenAI)
Page: OpenAI Help Center, How to change your language setting in ChatGPT — shown as "Updated: 2 months ago" on 3 October 2026.
What it names: under "What languages do you support?", a list that includes ten Indian languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Odia and Assamese are not on it.
Which list it is: the interface language setting. The page is about changing ChatGPT's language in Settings; it does not say the same list governs what ChatGPT will write in.
Gemini (Google)
Page: Gemini Apps Help, Where you can use the Gemini web app, read 3 October 2026.
What it names: "more than 70 languages", including twelve Indian languages: Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu (plus Nepali).
Which list it is: languages the Gemini web app is available in. It is the only list in this table that names both Odia and Assamese.
Claude (Anthropic)
Page: Claude developer docs, Multilingual support, read 3 October 2026.
What it names: a performance table for 15 languages, of which two are Indian. Each figure is a percentage of the same model's English score, on a professionally translated version of the MMLU test, run with extended thinking:
| Language | Claude Sonnet 4.5 | Claude Haiku 4.5 |
|---|---|---|
| English | 100% | 100% |
| Hindi | 96.7% | 92.4% |
| Bengali | 95.4% | 90.4% |
The page adds that "Claude is capable in many languages beyond those benchmarked" and tells you to test your own language. It also advises submitting "text in its native script rather than transliteration" — relevant if you type Hindi in Roman letters.
Which list it is: an output-quality measurement — the only one in this table. It is also the shortest list of Indian languages here. The two facts go together: it names fewer languages because it only names the ones it measured.
Jasper
Pages: Jasper Help Center, Translations FAQ ("Updated 1 month ago"), and Jasper's Translation Agent product page, both read 3 October 2026.
What it names: two different lists.
- Default Workspace Language — 33 entries (counting English and Portuguese variants separately). No Indian language is on it. The page says that if "your language isn't supported as a Default Workspace Language", you can set it per project, per agent, or in your prompt instead.
- Translation Agent — "27 supported languages", of which one is Indian: Hindi. The agent is listed as limited to Business plans.
Which list it is: a workspace output default and a translation list. Neither names any Indian language other than Hindi.
Rytr
Page: Rytr Help, Write in 30+ Languages, dated 28 August 2025.
What it names: "Rytr supports 30+ languages", followed by about 25 named languages and the word "etc." The only Indian language named is Hindi.
Which list it is: an output list, but incomplete by its own wording. Whether Tamil, Bengali or any other Indian language is among the unnamed remainder is not published.
Copy.ai
Pages: Copy.ai homepage and pricing page, read 3 October 2026.
What it names: the homepage says its translation feature produces "native speaker level translations for any language". The pricing page does not mention languages. We did not find a page on copy.ai that lists languages by name.
Which list it is: a claim with no list. "Any language" names none, so there is nothing to check it against.
JustShoot (us)
On the same terms as everyone else, since a matrix whose author wins it is not a matrix.
Pages: justshoot.ai homepage and our llms.txt file, read 3 October 2026.
What it names: the homepage says "11 languages" and names three of them ("Including Hindi, Hinglish, Gujarati"). The full list of eleven is only in our llms.txt file: English, Hinglish, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Punjabi, Kannada and Malayalam.
Two honest qualifications. First, two of our eleven are English and Hinglish, so the Indian-language count is nine plus Hinglish. Second, our main page names only three — a reader who never opens llms.txt sees a count, not a list. That is the same habit this page is criticising, and we have flagged it to be fixed. We publish no output-quality figure per language.
The whole table
| Tool | Indian languages named | Which list | Count claimed | Quality figure per language | Page date |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gemini | 12 (incl. Odia, Assamese) | Web app availability | "more than 70" | No | Read 3 Oct 2026 |
| ChatGPT | 10 (no Odia, Assamese) | Interface setting | None | No | "2 months ago" |
| JustShoot | 9 + Hinglish (3 on homepage) | Output | 11 | No | Read 3 Oct 2026 |
| Claude | 2 (Hindi, Bengali) | Output quality | None | Yes — % of English | Read 3 Oct 2026 |
| Jasper | 1 (Hindi) | Translation agent; workspace default names 0 | 27 / 33 | No | "1 month ago" |
| Rytr | 1 (Hindi) | Output, partial ("etc.") | "30+" | No | 28 Aug 2025 |
| Copy.ai | 0 | None found | "any language" | No | Read 3 Oct 2026 |
Rows are sorted by how many Indian languages each vendor names, which is a count of disclosure, not a ranking of quality.
How to read a language claim before you pay
Three questions, in this order:
- Does the vendor name your language, or just give a number? A number with no list ("30+", "any language") tells you nothing about Marathi in particular.
- Which list is it? An interface list says the menus are translated. It does not promise the writing is any good.
- Is there any measurement? In our table, only Claude publishes one, for two Indian languages. For every other language and vendor, the only test that exists is your own.
That last test is cheap to run on the part of a video that matters most: the title. The free YouTube Title Tester scores up to three title options for click-through, keyword and AI-Overview fit, and works in Hindi, Hinglish and English. Write the same title with two different tools and compare them side by side before you commit to either.

FAQ
Which AI writing tools support Indian languages? By what vendors publish on 3 October 2026: Gemini names 12 Indian languages, ChatGPT names 10, JustShoot 9 plus Hinglish, Claude 2 (Hindi and Bengali, with quality figures), Jasper and Rytr 1 each (Hindi), and Copy.ai claims "any language" without naming any. A named language is a disclosure, not a quality guarantee.
Does ChatGPT support Tamil and Telugu? OpenAI's help page lists both Tamil and Telugu among the languages you can set ChatGPT to. That page is about the interface language setting; it does not separately publish a list of languages ChatGPT writes well in.
Which AI tool supports Odia and Assamese? Of the seven we checked, only Gemini's web app names both Odia and Assamese. ChatGPT's list does not include either, and no other vendor in this table names them.
Is there any published quality score for AI writing in Hindi? Among these seven vendors, only Anthropic publishes one: Claude Sonnet 4.5 scores 96.7% of its English score in Hindi and 95.4% in Bengali, on a professionally translated version of the MMLU test. No other vendor here publishes a per-language figure.
What does "supports 100+ languages" usually mean? Often it is a count of interface or translation languages rather than languages the tool writes well in, and often no list is attached. Ask which list the number refers to, then test your own language before paying.
